Patricia Ann Diehl Long, age 80, of Haymarket, VA, formerly of Mechanicsburg, PA died on October 27, 2017 at the INOVA Fairfax Hospital, Falls Church, VA. She was born on June 27, 1937 in Mechanicsburg, PA to the late James Thomas and Evelyn Pearl Fishel Diehl.
Pat was a 1955 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and was a retired administrative assistant for 20 years at the U.S. Highway Department. She was a member of the Mattaponi Kennel Club and was a lifelong avid Irish Setter Breeder and loved to show her dogs.
Pat was the beloved wife of 49 years to the late Earl K. Long, loving sister of Jane Diehl Marsh of Mechanicsburg, PA, devoted aunt to David Marsh of Richardson, TX, Kathy Kuntzelman and her husband Ed of Lancaster, PA , Jimmy Marsh and his wife Karin of Deltona, FL and the late Joe Marsh, also survived by 11 great nieces and nephews and 9 great-great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 4th from 12:30pm to 1:30pm at Everly-Community Funeral Care, 6161 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA 22044, where funeral services will be held at 1:30pm. Graveside services will immediately follow at National Memorial Park, Falls Church. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made in Pat’s honor to the Irish Setters Rescue, C/O Jan Ziech, 12452 McKanna Road, Manooka, IL 60447.
