Antonios Stefanias

Antonios “Tony” Stefanias passed away peacefully on March 20, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Irene Stefanias; loving father of Nick (Vicky) and John (Vicki) Stefanias; beloved grandfather of Antonia and Apollo; and dear brother of Kyriaki (Vasilios) Germanos (Greece) and Panagiotis (Maria) Stefanias. Tony is also survived by many loving brother and sister-in-laws, nephews, nieces, family, and friends.

Tony was born in Agios Georgios Sykousis, Chios, Greece in 1950. He immigrated to the United States in 1972 to the Washington, DC area. Tony married his beloved wife, Irene, in 1974 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and they settled in Northern Virginia. Tony was in the restaurant business and enjoyed cooking. He kept a vegetable garden every summer, which was his happy place. Tony would give out his surplus vegetables to everybody - he always thought of others and wanted to make sure they were fed and well taken care of. He enjoyed being with his family and being outside, where he could sneak in a smoke break. You could always win him over with a banana split sundae from Baskin-Robbins, a Big Mac from McDonald’s, or a well-done prime rib from Outback Steakhouse - just make sure it’s not pink inside. 

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church | 3249 Glen Carlyn Rd. Falls Church, VA 22041 or to the American Cancer Society https://donate3.cancer.org. Funeral services will be held at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church on Saturday, March 26, 2022 with visitation at 11am and the service starting at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, VA.
