Carroll M. Bryant

July 12, 1947 ~ March 27, 2020 (age 72) 72 Years Old

Tribute

Carroll Murphy Bryant 72, of Falls Church, Virginia, passed into the next life in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his family on Friday, March 27th, 2020. Carroll was born in Lynchburg, Virginia and raised in Nelson County. He was the son of the late Murphy Houston Bryant and Margaret Fields Bryant.

Carroll is survived by his loving wife, Ann, of nearly 36 years, two daughters Ceryna Bryant Riner and husband Frank of Nelson, Va., Laura Bryant Loran and husband Christian of Ashburn, Va., his sister Jackie Bryant Thomas of Amherst, Va., his granddaughter Jessee Clements of Nelson, Va., and step-grandchildren, John and Kat Loran of Ashburn, Va. He is also survived by his nephew Ronnie Bryant, Jr. and his nieces Crystal Bryant Carson and Tammy Bryant Normandy. We are particularly grateful to his good friend Joe and a very special companion (Laura’s dog) Lola. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Ronnie Bryant, Sr. and his sister Jill Bryant Cozad.

The family would like to extend special thanks and appreciation for their excellent care to Capital Caring Health and Dr. Sampat and his team, specifically the nurses, at Virginia Cancer Specialists.

Carroll was an exceptionally private man, so many may not have known about his living with cancer. We only share this now to demonstrate what a wonderfully strong and stoic person that he was, even up until his final moments. He did not want his disease to define him, so he kept about his normal day to day life, rarely complaining, and never making excuses. Carroll demonstrated his forever love of his family by the giving of his time and efforts to ensure they knew his love. From regular cake baking, working on cars, other household projects and hosting family for meals, he showed how much love he had for us.

Carroll was nothing, if not hard working and has instilled that in his daughters to carry with them in their lives. He worked much of his life as an auto-mechanic, as a trucker, a machinist, and operated his own businesses to support his family. Carroll enjoyed a variety of hobbies from hunting, fishing, and boating during his life. He was an avid fan of the Old Western television shows and movies.

Carroll was a private person and per his wishes did not want to have a funeral service.

We must individually memorialize Carroll Murphy Bryant in the ways in which we feel most comfortable. The family asks that you remember him, share stories about him, and pray for him, for us and our loss. We welcome those stories to be shared with the family so that his memories stay strong! Carroll’s ashes will be spread in Amherst, VA and a memorial marker will be placed at St. Stephen’s Baptist Church at 2903 Tye River Rd. Amherst, VA 24521. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the St. Stephen’s Cemetery Fund (by check) or to Capital Caring Health here: In Memory of Carroll Bryant
