Janice Chou Pender

Janice Chou Pender, age 47, went to her eternal rest on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. She was born  in the City of Chungli, Taiwan. Janice is the beloved wife of 11 years of Michael Pender. She is the daughter of Te-Chun Chou and Chun-Lan Chen, sister of Mark Chou and Jin Jing Shr (Fanny Chou), aunt of Ariel Chou and Audrey Chou and sister-in-law of Rachel Lin. She is daughter-in-law of Margaret Ellis, and sister-in-law of Michele Penkala and Erin Thomson.

Janice poured her heart into every person she met and filled their lives with laughter and love. She accepted Christ after college and His joy and love were ever present through Janice. She lit up every conversation she walked into, and her laughter was contagious. She adored children and was sure to make friends with kids at every event she attended. She cherished her nieces and nephews and relentlessly spoiled her extended nieces and nephews.

Janice had been a practicing Physical Therapist for 22 years and was a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. Janice was inspired to become a Physical Therapist after experiencing her own Grandmother’s challenges in getting proper therapy to recover from a stroke. She had a heart for helping the elderly through her profession. Janice shared her expertise with family and friends trying to relieve their physical pains whenever needed.

Janice expressed her love through food, and flowers. She enjoyed making and sharing meals with family and friends. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed walks in public gardens, always looking to discover new flowers she could plant in her own garden or to gift others. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors. She loved hiking and discovering new trails. She took up mountain biking so she can have opportunities to explore the outdoors. She found peace and calm in nature.  

Janice will live in our hearts forever.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 4, 2022 from 10am to 12pm for visitation and Funeral service at Everly Funeral Home, 6161 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA followed by burial service at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA.
