Tribute

John Nicholas Argerson, 65, beloved son of Dr. Nicholas B. and Diane Argerson, cherished brother of Basil, Michelle (Dr. Nick) Costidakis, Dennis (Dena) and Ekaterini, and loving uncle to Nicholas and Mariann, passed unexpectedly on April 4, 2024. John’s calling in life was to help others; he will be remembered for his selfless and giving heart, his endless kindness and his inquisitive mind. John was born in Kansas City, Missouri and raised in Annandale and Great Falls, VA. He was an acolyte who served in the altar with Father Ted Chelpon at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church. John and his family were active members in the parish’s daily life where John enjoyed cultivating friendships and relationships with the youth of the parish through GOYA and Greek school. He attended Westminster School for K-8 in Annandale and graduated high school from St. Stephen’s in Alexandria. John graduated in 1981 from Johns Hopkins University with a B.S. in Natural Sciences. He was an active member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He received his medical degree in 1986 from Medical College of Virginia (now VCU School of Medicine). He moved to Johnson City, TN where he completed his residency in Family Medicine at East Tennessee State University and became Board certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians in 1989. John loved the beauty of the area and served his community during his lifetime. The joy of traveling and exploring new cultures were instilled in John from his early years traveling to Greece during summers. He ventured often for pleasure, and to continue his medical knowledge. John was a fine host as he often entertained friends in his home and planned group outings. He loved people with a great sense of humor and an open mind. John is preceded in death by his sister, Mariann. He will eternally be missed by his family and friends. We will do our best to continue John’s legacy while managing the pain and loss of a soul taken far too soon. Our lives are forever dimmed. We are comforted knowing John is with our Lord and Savior and all of those gone before him. His love and our memories will connect us until we meet again. Eternal be his memory. Funeral arrangements are as follows: Saturday, April 13th at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, 3149 Glen Carlyn Road, Falls Church, VA Visitation - 1:00 Funeral Service 1:30 followed by interment at Oakwood Cemetery.
