Jose A. Marron

Jose Antonio (Pepe) Marron (85) of Falls Church, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 6, at his home. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Edelmira Felpeto; his children, Ana Maria Marron and Beatriz Alonso; granddaughters Marisa (Ahmadi) and Vivian Alonso; and great grand children Leopoldo and Farah Ahmadi.

He was born in Havana, Cuba, on December 27, 1933, and is preceded in death by his parents Fructuoso Marron and Dolores Suarez. He was an honors graduate and alumnus of La Salle in Havana, Cuba. At the young age of 27, he was forced to leave his Cuban homeland with two daughters aged 9 years and 3 ½ months old and start a new life in a foreign country. Having attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, for a year, he was familiar with the English language. In Cuba, he was the owner of the family business, La Vida bakery. In the United States, the first job he was able to find was as a baker at Lee Bakery in McLean. He had no experience actually baking, but learned. Later on, he worked at Safeway until he was able to procure jobs in the accounting field. His last job before retirement was in the accounting department of Fresh Value Markets, the supermarkets then owned by his son-in-law, Leopoldo Alonso.

   The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 13, from 5-8 PM at Everly Funeral Home, 6161 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, Virginia. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Thursday, November 14, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 8601 Wolftrap Road, Vienna, Virginia. Interment will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax.
