Lawrence Russell Chase Jr.

Lawrence Russell “Rucky” Chase Jr., 74 of Annandale, VA passed away peacefully at 6:10pm surrounded by his children on Wednesday May 27th, 2020. Lawrence is survived by his son Christopher, daughter Maygan, and by grandchildren, Sterling, Regan and Eloise, as well as his brothers Ken and Peter and sister Lynn, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rucky followed in his father’s footsteps by enlisting in the Navy, and was a Vietnam veteran who was stationed at Subic Bay Naval Station in the Philippines before spending a one year tour in Vietnam from April 1969 through April 1970.  Life after the military was filled with a variety of careers including Pepco linesman, farmer, musical entrepreneur, printer, and most of all father.

In addition, Rucky was an avid sailor and fisherman who enjoyed taking his sailboat out on the Chesapeake Bay in both fair and choppy conditions. He always had a fishing tale to tell about “the one that got away”, and you could always count on him heading out to his boat at the crack of dawn, even if it was freezing and raining!

The bright spot of Rucky’s life were his children, Chris and Maygan, and his grandchildren, Sterling, Regan and Eloise. He was always bragging to anyone that would listen about his kids and grandkids.

Rucky was a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Dunn Loring, VA for many years.  His favorite verse was Psalm 23, and he would want to hear us all say “peace be with you”.

Services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
