Margarita Fernandez

Margarita was born and raised in Havana, Cuba and immigrated to the United States in the early 50’s.  She passed away peacefully on December 11, 2021 at the age of 89 in Berryville, VA. Margarita was a fun and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister, friend and sweet second mom to many.

She is survived by her son Humbert Fernandez, Jr. and twin daughters Lisa Novak (Bill) and Linda Johnston, as well as three brothers; Bienve, Leno and Rey.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Anthony Fernandez (Shannon), Garrett Johnston, Eric Novak; and great-grandchildren Kyle Fernandez, Mikayla Fernandez, Dylan Fernandez, and Hunter Ivester; as well as many close nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death, were her husband Humbert Fernandez Sr., and daughter Dinah Fernandez along with her parents, and one brother.

Margarita touched many with her kind heart, fantastic sense of humor and willingness to help at a moment’s notice - especially if you needed anything sewn! She will be missed deeply and celebrated often.

Family and friends may call at Everly Funeral Home, 6161 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA on Monday December 20th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Columbia Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Suite 405, Winchester, VA 22601.
