Mildred Hartshorn

Mildred Stromick Hartshorn (Millie) passed away peacefully in her home in Falls Church, VA, on February 28, 2019. She was 91.
Millie was one of 17 children born to Mitro and Julia Stromick, and was born on November 24, 1927 at her family home in McClellandtown, PA. Millie attended school in Uniontown, PA, and at age 21, moved to Washington, DC, to live with her sister Anne. Millie was an award winning secretary in the Pentagon and served in the Signal Corps in the late 1940s up through 1963. Millie married Roland Dewitt Hartshorn (b.1921 – d.1994) in 1953. She later joined her husband as a legal secretary in his Falls Church law firm, and retired in 1994. Since retirement, Millie has spent her time honing her bridge skills and enjoying her 7 grandchildren. She was Master bridge player and also enjoyed traveling, both alone and with family.

Millie is survived by her children, Marie Anne Cheek, Elizabeth Lee Faber, and Roland David Hartshorn, as well as the 7 grandchildren.

Millie will have a viewing/reception at the Everly Funeral Home, 6161 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church. VA 22042, on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 6 to 8 pm. Her funeral will be Friday, March 8, 2019, at 11 am at Providence Presbyterian Church, 9019 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax, VA 22032, with interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Falls Church.
