Rosario Ballivian

Rosario (Del Rio) Ballivian, a beautiful, loving and beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away on October 15, 2017.
Born in La Paz, Bolivia, Rosario carried an ardent soul that flourished in the arts since she was a child. Rosario was a ballerina at the National Ballet of Bolivia, where at age 20, was cast to become the first actress of Bolivia. She had the lead roles in the internationally acclaimed dramatic films La Vertiente (directed by Jorge Ruiz, 1958) and Miles Como Maria (directed by Harry Watt, 1958). Most of all in her life, Rosario loved raising her three daughters in Falls Church, Virginia, as she first moved to Washington DC at the age of 22. She took on a decades-long career as a refined interior designer under her company, Monice Interiors.
Rosario is survived by her daughters Cecilia Mencia, Monica Ballivian, Nicole Ballivian, sons-in-law Manuel Mencia and Carl Strecker and her most precious pearls, her grandchildren Alexa Mencia, Nicolas Mencia and Zahra Strecker.
