Ruth Powell

Ruth Powell (Moscatelli) was born October 17, 1935 to Remo Moscatelli and Columbia Pasquale (Love) in Nanticoke, PA. The family then moved to Washington, D.C. where Ruth met her husband, John Powell. They settled down in McLean, Virginia for over 40 years where Ruth raised their four children. Like Ruth of the Bible, she was faithful and loving wife, and worked diligently on her beautiful garden and lawn. 

Ruth was blessed to spend her retirement years with her young grandchildren, playing her electric organ, and sewing the most intricate and beautiful cross stitches you’ve ever seen. She never met a crossword or a Wheel of Fortune puzzle she couldn't win. And she always loved the gift of a new book. Reading was her favorite pastime, keeping her sharp until her final days. As a Christian, Ruth wanted nothing but Jesus Christ’s love and peace for her family and the world. 

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, and siblings Anna Warriner, Martha Parker, and Kathy Smith. She is survived by her caretaker and daughter Debbie Forrest (Doug), son Johnny Powell (Kim), and loving daughters Evelyn Summerbell, and Jacqueline Celona (Paul); Grandchildren Victoria, Safia (James), April (Ilham), Bridgette (Dan), Angela (Cameron), Gabriela, and Daniel; her siblings Remo Moscatelli, Velma Smith, and Liz Beall,  and her many adorable great-grand children and beloved Nieces and Nephews.
