Marjorie Smythe Donelan, formerly of Springfield, VA, passed away peacefully in her home in Kill Devil Hill, NC on May 31, 2017.
 
Marjorie was born in 1925 in Holton, KS to Jessica Crewson Smythe and Lloyd Burwell Smythe.  She graduated from Kansas State University where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority.  During World War II she met the love of her life, Paul R. M. Donelan, while he was serving in the Army Air Corp.  They would later marry at St. Matthew Cathedral in Washington, D. C. on August 7, 1948.
 
Marjorie enjoyed a number of activities in life including golf, gardening, cooking and a number of crafts including woodwork and cross stitch.  Her greatest joy in life were her two children, her seven grandchildren and her two great-grandchildren.
 
She will be greatly missed by many friends and family who are grateful for her 92 years of love and devotion.
 
There will be a viewing held on Monday, June 19 at Everly Community Funeral Care, 6161 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA from 6pm to 8pm.  And on June 20 a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Springfield, VA at 10:30am with reception to follow.
