Thomas John Bingley, Jr. (1920-2015)

Thomas "Tom" Bingley, Washingtonian, musician, veteran of WWII, salesman, company executive, golfer, and a proud long time member of Alcoholics Anonymous  died peacefully on September 20.  

He was born in Washington DC on November 13, 1920.  The only child of Mildred Lipphard and Thomas John Bingley, Sr., he grew up on Allison Street near Rock Creek Cemetery and graduated from Roosevelt High School.  While still in school he learned to play the guitar and later joined Jack Maggio's Band.  They played swing music in the DC area and at Colonial Beach.  

He joined the Navy during WWII and trained at Sampson Navy Base, playing in the US Navy Band for awhile before being assigned to the USS Lexington and going to the Pacific Theater.  

In 1943 he married Gladys Menefee, also of DC, and they had two daughters, Carolyn and Barbara.  The family lived in The district until 1956 when they moved to Arlington, VA.

Tom was a salesman.  He worked for M.S. Ginn's Office Supply Company in DC.  He then sold radios and TVs and later worked for Embassy Sales and Service selling office machines.  

At the peak of his career he was a Vice President of Samsung Electronics America, working out of Chicago and New York.  At that time he was married to a Korean National, Sumi Lee. They divorced in 1986.

He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Bingley of Oakton,VA,  Carolyn Bingley Wiley of Jefferson, Maine, her husband,  Peter Coon, grandchildren Kim Wiley-Schwartz of Brooklyn NY, her husband, Andy Wiley-Schwartz, Scott Wiley of Charlotte, NC, his wife, Leta Long Wiley, and great grand children, Nora Wiley-Schwartz, Isaac Bingley Wiley-Schwartz, Taylor Wiley, Kaitlyn Askew and Devin Askew.

Second Street South. Your car will then be given a security inspection. Allow plenty of time for
